Many conservatives have jumped on the platform of tailoring policy to appeal to Hispanic and Latino voters. This has largely been driven by a seeming shift in Hispanic voting patterns toward the republican party, most especially in states like Texas and Florida, and Republicans are now looking at Latinos as the future support base for conservatism in America, but not only is this a questionable strategy, but the conservative approach has quickly devolved into petty pandering, with some conservatives now coming out in support of amnesty for illegal immigrants with the assumption that they’ll begin voting republican (a mistake Ronald Reagan had made decades prior), bilingualism in the United States, and a widening of legal immigration policy toward Latin America.
